The companion site to a book for teachers: a curated catalogue of AI tools, official courses and prompts

The problem

A printed book about generative AI goes out of date before it reaches the shelf. Tools change names, prices and terms. Courses appear and expire. Links die. A teacher who reads a chapter on a Sunday evening needs to find the tool on Monday morning, and the book cannot promise that.

The founder's book, "Generative AI for Teachers: A Practical Guide to Educational Technology" (2025) and its Portuguese edition, "Inteligência Artificial Generativa para Professores" (Editora Dialética, 2026), needed a companion that stays current: one place where the tools, the courses and the prompts named in the chapters are kept live, in both languages, for the readers the book addresses.

What was built

AI Teachers, at ai-teachers.pro, is the official companion site to the book and is built and run by the founder. It is a bilingual web application with Portuguese and English home pages and catalogue entries.

The centre of the site is a classroom tested catalogue of 57 AI tools in 5 categories: general chat and reasoning, coding copilots and developer agents, creative media generation, scholarly research and data wrangling, and education first platforms. Each entry carries the official link, three tags and a pricing note, so a teacher can see before clicking whether a tool has a free tier, open weights or a paid plan only.

Around the catalogue sit the other sections. A learn page gathers free official learning paths from OpenAI, Google, Anthropic and Microsoft, with five official hubs and six featured educator courses, plus a UNESCO library of 37 documents in 6 categories. A book resources page holds the 27 resources reached through the QR codes printed in the book, chapter by chapter: prompt libraries, toolkits, platforms, worked examples and guides. A news section keeps an archive of stories, each with its source outlet, date and a summary written for teachers and school leaders.

The home page routes three readers to their starting point: the classroom teacher (lesson co-planning prompt library, differentiation and scaffolding toolkit, AI assisted marking and feedback), the department head (schemes of work built with AI, team upskilling pathway, assessment integrity guidance) and the school leader (whole school AI strategy, staff CPD programme, governance and ethics framework).

How it works

There is no model in the reading path. The catalogue, the courses and the book resources are typed data files, one set per language, compiled into the application when it is built. Each tool entry carries its category, its tags, its pricing note and its official link. When a tool changes, the entry changes and the site is rebuilt; nothing is generated at read time, so what the reader sees is what the founder wrote and checked.

The news section is the one exception, and it is kept apart on purpose. Stories are fetched from configured sources, summarised by a language model and written to a database table that the page reads. Every story keeps its outlet, its date and the link to the original article, so the reader can tell a summary from a source. The curated catalogue uses its own data modules.

The book connects to the site through its QR codes. Each code in the printed chapters resolves to one of the 27 resources on the book resources page, which records the chapter and the position of the code, so a reader with the book open lands on the right page.

Evidence

The reach figure comes from the sites themselves. The founder's site states that his platforms for education reach more than 15,000 educators every month, and ai-teachers.pro states the same number on its own pages, as "Join 15,000+ Educators" and "15,000+ educators teaching with generative AI" (both checked on 24 September 2026, fact ai-teachers-01). NASCIA publishes the figure as stated and has no independent count to add to it.

The catalogue figures come from the live pages: 57 tools in 5 categories on the tools page (24 September 2026, fact ai-teachers-04), 27 resources on the book resources page (fact ai-teachers-06) and 37 UNESCO documents in 6 categories on the learn page (fact ai-teachers-11).

Stack

AI Teachers is a React single page application built with Vite and styled with Tailwind CSS. The curated content ships inside the application as compiled data modules, with separate Portuguese and English modules. Supabase holds the news table that the news section reads. The live site and the repository agree on these four; anything one of them names and the other does not is left out.

What it demonstrates

Define. One audience and one job: teachers, coordinators and school leaders who own a copy of the book and need its tools, courses and prompts to stay current in Portuguese and English.

Instrument. A catalogue is only useful while it is true. The curated content is held in typed data files, and each catalogue tool has an official link, a category and a pricing note, so a stale item is a data change that can be found and checked rather than a page to redesign. The live pages show the counts, and the counts are what NASCIA quotes.

Integrate. The one place where a model writes, the news summaries, is isolated from the curated sections: it has its own store, and every story keeps its outlet, its date and its original link. The curated tools and courses follow a separate data path.

Hand over. The site is operated by its author alone, in two languages, from data files he can edit. That is the smallest version of the rule NASCIA applies to every system it ships: the person who owns the outcome can run it without the people who built it.
