A curriculum to careers workbench that maps every scheme of work topic to UK career pathways for review

The problem

A scheme of work lists what a department teaches. Careers guidance describes where that learning leads. Linking the two, topic by topic, is slow work, and the product's own premise is that the topics arrive scattered and the guidance has to come out structured.

The product states the standard it holds itself to: curriculum evidence in, credible guidance out. The guidance has to be something teachers and leaders can stand behind, written in the language of Gatsby Benchmark 4, and it has to come from the planning a department already has, with no reformatting and no templates.

What was built

Careers Studio, a NASCIA build, is a workbench that turns curriculum topics into UK careers guidance. The product calls itself Careers, Curriculum Careers Studio; no school is named on it and none is named here.

A teacher uploads a scheme of work, a topic list or a curriculum export as CSV, XLSX, DOCX or PDF, one scheme of work at a time. A twelve stage AI orchestration analyses the curriculum, maps every topic to UK career pathways, employability skills and progression routes, and produces structured guidance for professional review. Every career on the workbench is a real UK career, gathered into six families: Digital and Tech, Health and Care, Engineering, Business and Finance, Public Service, Environment and Energy.

The result goes back into the teacher's own file. Careers appends exactly one Careers column beside the original content and adds a Careers tab with the complete mapping; every sheet, colour, formula and merged cell is preserved as uploaded. Reports export in PDF and Word: leader briefings, topic-to-career maps and summary CSV files, aligned to Gatsby Benchmark 4.

The landing page also carries a global map of IB Diploma university recognition: 2,213 published university recognition statements across 91 countries, from the IBO recognition database as of 31 May 2026. A search by country, city or school flies the globe there. The page says that individual university pins will follow in a later release. The interface is in British English.

How it works

The public workflow has three steps: upload, enrich, report. Behind the second step sit the twelve stages.

Upload. The file is read as it stands. The pipeline extracts the teachable topics before it maps anything.

Enrich. The product describes twelve stages that map each topic to UK career pathways, employability skills and labour market context, in Gatsby Benchmark 4 language. Its public pages mention a validated skills framework but do not identify that framework or the labour market source. Each enriched row carries skills, a pathway and a justification; topics are grouped into curriculum themes, and the distinct employability skills are counted across the whole file. The studio asks for a review before a run starts.

Report. The original workbook comes back with the Careers column and the Careers tab, and the same results generate the PDF and Word reports and the summary CSV.

Evidence

The numbers on this page are the product's own, read on the public pages on 24 September 2026. The orchestration runs in twelve stages (landing page, fact 06). Four input formats are accepted, CSV, XLSX, DOCX or PDF, one scheme of work at a time (landing page, fact 04). Exactly one Careers column is appended and the original file is preserved (landing page, fact 09). The careers on the workbench sit in six families (landing page, fact 12). The IB Diploma map draws on 2,213 published university recognition statements across 91 countries, from the IBO recognition database as of 31 May 2026 (landing page, fact 13).

No usage figures are published on the site, so none appear here.

Stack

The live page is a Next.js application served by Firebase Hosting (document head and hosting domain, facts 16 and 17). The IB Diploma globe is drawn with MapLibre on OpenStreetMap data, with NASA Earth at Night and Esri, Maxar and Earthstar Geographics imagery, as the page's own credit line states (fact 15).

The public pages name no language model, vendor or database for the twelve stage orchestration, so this page does not claim one.

What it demonstrates

Define. The output is fixed in advance: one Careers column, one Careers tab, Gatsby Benchmark 4 language, the original file untouched. A department can say before a run what it will receive.

Instrument. Twelve separate stages, not one prompt. The studio counts topics, enriched rows, distinct skills and themes, and asks for a review before a run, so a teacher can see what the system did and where.

Integrate. The guidance lands inside the spreadsheet the department already uses and exports in the formats it already presents in. Nothing has to be copied out of a chat window.

Hand over. The guidance is produced for professional review, in the page's own words, so the outcome belongs to the teacher or leader who presents it, not to the system.
